¡Por una Educación No Sexista en la Patagonia! Aprendizajes desde la agitación política protagonizada por estudiantes de Educación Media de la Región de Magallanes y la Antártica Chilena
Abstract
At the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica Region, Pingüinos del Fuego collective and the Magallanes Secondary Students Federation are organized for a Non-Sexist Education. Together, we facilitated workshops through participatory methodologies for young people from Punta Arenas and Puerto Natales. We systematize these experiences, deepening in the biographical, institutional and geographical specificities of rethinking the educational system from Patagonia.
Based on first-person narratives produced in the workshops, we noticed two regularities: the recognition of sexual abuse in the biographies of the participants; and a racist and sexualized stigma that falls on the bodies of indigenous youth studying in Puerto Natales.
We made visible a Model of Institutional Resistance and Violation of the Right to Education as a Human Right, which punishes activists for politicizing their educational spaces. And, finally, we identify the conditioning of the cold and darkness of the Patagonian winter in local organizations.
